He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Hess and Anna Hess (Groff); his daughter Jane Nicholas; and his brother Titus Hess. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy M. Hess (Shultz); his children, Cindy Hess, Sharon Hostetter (Elvin), Ed Hess (Julie) and Eugene Hess (Susan); his son-in-law William Nicholas; and his sister Miriam G. Hess. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
