He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Tobinus and Eva Charnick Tobinus; and his siblings, Louise, Veronica and Michael.

He is survived by: his sons, John, Jr. Darlene (Courtney) and Travis; his grandchildren, Rachael, Hannah, Trey, Emily, Chase and Kayla; and his siblings, Frances Kolenda and Vincent Tobinus.
