He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Coldren and Beulah McDaniel Coldren. He is survived by: his wife Karen A. Fairchild Coldren; his son William "Bill" H. Coldren; his sister Alice Flatley; and his nephews, Keith, Chris and Eric Flatley.

Memorial donations in John's honor may be made to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania – Cardiology, 3400 Spruce St, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
