He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Schmitt and Helen Wickenheiser Schmitt; his wife Mary Markley Schmitt; his brothers, Joseph Schmitt and Albert Schmitt; and his grandson Andrew Youtz.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Elizabeth Youtz (Stephen) of Mountville and Robert P. Schmitt, Jr. (Deb) of Elizabethtown; his grandchildren, Robert, Gregory, Jennifer and Justin; and his sisters-in-law, Doris Schmitt and Nancy Schmitt. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
