He was predeceased by: his parents, John, Sr. Erney and Elsie Shue Erney; his wife Patricia; and his siblings, Robert Erney, Marlin Erney and Grace Brown.
He is survived by: his children, Timothy (Gloria Erney) of Pittsburgh, Jay (Vicki Erney) of Dillsburg, Brenda (Bob Kopf) of Lancaster, Sue Wallace of Mount Joy and Robin (Warren Yohe) of Columbia; and his siblings, Lois Naylor of Dover, PA and Donald Erney of Bradenton, FL.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
