He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles and Jessie. He is survived by: his wife Patricia (Pelarcik); his children, Michael W. Hepner Jr. of Honey Brook, Patrick Hepner of Mechanicsville, MD, James Hepner of Honey Brook, John Hepner (Talia) of Lansdale and Lynn Hepner Friel (James) of Edgewater, FL; his grandchildren, Amanda Hepner, Skylar Hepner, John Hepner, Jr., James Friel III, William Friel, Ella Hepner, Tessa Hepner and Eva Friel; and his siblings, Patricia Hall Honda and Charles Hepner (Rita).
