He was predeceased by: his parents, James I. Sharar and Hattie L. Myers Sharar; his wife Arlene Barnes Sharar; his sister Shirley Ann Sharar; his grandson Ryan Joseph Laughlin; and his grandson-in-law Duane Shaw.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherry Pittman (Garry) of Staunton, VA, Linda Sharar of Chambersburg and Jodie Laughlin of Chambersburg; and his grandchildren, Samantha Shaw of Staunton, VA, Kandie Matox (Chris) of Staunton, VA and Cody Laughlin of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by four great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
