He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Zella and Mary Sembrat Zella. He is survived by: his wife Jennie Cavicchia Zella; his children, Jeff (Lisa) of LaQuinta, California and Cathy (Tony Oates) of Richmond Virginia; his grandchildren, Tony, Nathalie and Julia Oates; his nephews, Jim Kovaleski and Joe Maddage; and his niece Donna Hibbard.
