He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Bates and Mary Bates (Watson). He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Bates (Yingling); his children, Matthew Glover (Shannon) and Katie Bates; his grandchildren, Levi, Zoee, Sophia and Alyvia; and his brothers, Gary of North Carolina and Richard (Phyllis) of South Carolina. He is also survived by many family members and friends.
