He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. John Staat and Jane Heemstra Staat; his son Jay Staat; and his grandson Justin Staat. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Knight; and his children, Scott Staat (Carole) of Redmond, OR and Dawn Smith (Scott Bryan) of St. Charles, MO.. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
