“I only worked with Joe one time and for one day but the memory never left. We were attending a meeting in Central Oregon and a gang of us from the Portland ODFW office were attending. I was driving a van full of the attendees from PDX with Joe beside me and a deer decided to commit suicide by jumping out in front of the motor-pool van. Joe hopped out and grabbed the dead deer and threw it off the side. He did it so easily and gracefully, I never forgot. Respectfully Wayne Rawlins (Realty)”

“In loving memory of Joseph Robert Schwab, I worked with Joe in the Beaverton office from 1974 to 1979. I used to go out with Joe on the Columbia River at night and check gill nets. He could not go alone so I gladly went so he could spend more time checking on nets. It was great fun and he was fun to work with. We talked on the phone from time to time and shared some stories as I moved to Tucson in 2012 at when he was in Phoenix. He was a fine example of an Oregon State Trooper.”

Living next door, we cherished our time as friends and neighbors, working with Joe in The Dalles and Portland. We continued our fond memories even though we moved in many different directions.
