She was predeceased by: her parents, Loyd Devon and Elzy Etoy Ray (Essary); her daughter Tammy Steele; and her siblings, Leroy Ray, Merlin Ray, Geneva Green and Wanda Lee.

She is survived by: her husband Thomas Eddie Steele; and her close friend Shirley Dahl.
