He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph G. Kirkby and Marguerite Kirkby (Owen); his sister Nancy Prosser; and his son Scott Kirkby. He is survived by: his wife Sidney Merle Murray; his sister Marcia; his daughter Kelly Jones; his grandchildren, Sarah Priest (Robert Woods), Hayden Kirkby (Katie), Mara Kirkby and Miles Kirkby (Felicity); his great grandchildren, Hazel Priest and Eleanor Priest; and his daughter-in-law Beth Kirkby.

Donations can be made in his memory to the Stillwater Bible Church Mission Fund.

“Uncle Jack was such a kind man & always made me feel special during visits with him. His quiet, calm demeanor made spending time together easy. He was accepting of all people & listened to their thoughts & ideas. Visits from our Texas family were always so exciting. It was like we were having company from a 'whole other country' and made summers happy & memorable. I'll always remember you Uncle Jack with much love & admiration. You are in my heart and prayers are lifted up for all of you.”

“Uncle Jack was quite a wonderful guy and I was very young when I first met him whilst on a visit to Holland, NY to visit his mother, my grandmother Marguerite. I remember watching him build the steps and front porch with hand-mixed concrete. Those structures are still there almost sixty years later, as a tribute to the quality of the man he was in this life, as well as in the next. I look forward to seeing him again, and it won't be long, as God measures time, before that day arrives.”
