He was predeceased by: his parents, O. W. Johnston and Bessie Delora Johnston (Garrett); his sons, Keith Johnston and Derick Johnston; and his great grandchild Talara Lynn Johnston.

He is survived by: his wife Hollie; his siblings, Sharon Myers of Tulsa, Norval Johnston of Corpus Christi and Von Johnston of Rogers; his grandsons, Toby Johnston of Pryor and Tyler Johnston of Salina; and his great grandchildren, Kloe and Carter Johnston.
