He was predeceased by: his parents, James Vaughn and Susie Vaughn (Redbird); his wife Pearl Vaughn; and his siblings, Woodrow, Jim, Earl Vaughn, Edna Downing, Bessie Vaughn, Doodie Stoneburner and Ella Griggs.
He is survived by: his children, Jon L. Vaughn (Tammy) of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Merle Downing (Otis) of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; his sister Janie Fleming (Homer) of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Amber Kirk, Jason Kirk, Ema (Blake), Micah Kirk, Cheyenne (Cecia) and Jaron (Makayla); his great grandchildren, Kase, Rylee, Preslee, Jaxon, Chett, Oak, Carter, Morgan, Lexon and Knoxtyn; and his close friend Barbara Payne of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
