He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Smethers and Thelma Lou Smethers (Cochran). He is survived by: his wife Lorna VanMeter of Mildred; his son William Smethers (Jill) of Lawrence; his grandson Bryce; and his brother Steven Smethers of Manhattan.
