He was predeceased by: his parents, Kodie Waymon Burns and Virgie Mae Burns (Lewellen); his son Terry (Lois); his sister Lois Long; and his brothers-in-law, Gus Doyle, Ted Patterson, Burl Grubbs and Russell Long.

He is survived by: his children, Bill (Paula), J. T. (Beth) and Sharon Edgar (Donald); and his sisters, Gwen Grubbs of Stigler and Fern Patterson of Sapula. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
