Desey Cathey Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Desey Cathey of Youngstown, Ohio, born in Shelby, Alabama, who passed away on December 5, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Samuel Cathey and Oler Wilson Cathey; his wife Eva M. Herbert; his daughters, Dionne Cathey of Youngstown and Laurie Hawkins of Birmingham, Alabama; his grandson Michael Cathey of Columbus; and his siblings, Benjamin Cathey (Barbara) of Fayetteville, NC, Jruby Cathey of Montevallo, James Cathey (Gwendolyn) of Birmingham, Alabama, Jewel Peoples of Youngstown, Linda Brown of Cleveland, Elizabeth Cathey, Willie Ree McCary, Lester, David and Ellis Cathey. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, family, church family and friends.

Due to the pandemic, all guests are required to wear masks and observe social distancing.
