He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Foster, Sr. and Mattie Foster; and his granddaughters, Essence Foster and Tiffany Bush. He is survived by: his wife Bernice Foster; his children, Robert Foster III, Terry Foster (Stacey), Barbie Foster, Mellinda Lanier (Bob), Tina Fite (Clarence), Tonya Lewis and Tina Blackwell (Danny); and his sister Mary Marcroft. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
