He was predeceased by: his parents, George M. Mays and Carrie Mays (Sherman); his former wife Phyllis; and his brothers, Lloyd Mays, Russell Mays, Jamie McGriff and Junior McGriff.
He is survived by: his wife Karen L. Mays (Hurst); his stepsons, Michael A. Goad (Regina) and Kevin P. Goad (December); his goddaughter Diane Grimm; his granddaughters, Shelly Rhines, Brandy Rhines and Nikki Rhines; his stepgrandchildren, Jarod Goad, Caleb Goad, Quinn Goad and Bronwyn Goad; and his siblings-in-law, Phil, Claudia Hurst of West Alexandria, Pauline Mays of Pittsburgh, PA and Essie Mays of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
