He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Byers and Dorothy Byers (Lonsway); his stepmother Mary Ruth Byers; his sister Marianne Gross; and his stepsister Bonnie Quinn.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Byers (Fender); his children, Deborah A. Lamson (Martin) of Bar Harbor, Lawrence M. Byers (Terri) of Columbus, Mark A. Byers (Robin) of Lodi, Charles J. Byers (Susan) of Columbus, Ind and Mary Jo Byers (Sharon) of Northfield; his brother Wiley Byers of Howland; and his stepsiblings, Patrick Quinn of Warren and Mary Quinn of Richmond Heights. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
