He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Cecil and Audrey Estella Grooms, Sr. (Berry); his siblings, Marilyn Adams, Corinna Grooms, Charlotte Massie, Chester Jr., Neil, Marvin, Gene, Gary and Ronnie Grooms; his great grandchild Paislee Jane; his parents-in-law, Floyd and Mae Montgomery; and also, Thurman Jr., Mary, David, Bill, Richard, Kenny and Joe.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Ann Grooms (Montgomery); his children, Duane Grooms (Sophia Lisa) of Houston, Tony Grooms of Adams County, Ryan Grooms (Melissa) of Jamestown and Jill Smith (Rod) of Wilmington, Ohio; his grandchildren, Zachary Duane Grooms of Austin, Nicolas Smith (Amanda) of Spring Valley, Katie Brown (Colton) of Leesburg and Tommy Smith (Maddie) of Jamestown, Ohio; his great grandchildren, Landen, Rhett, Hudson, Baylor and Shepherd; his sister Beverly Grooms of Xenia, Ohio; and his sisters-in-law, Ruth Copeland of Washington, C. H., Darlene Grooms of Wilmington and Cathy Grooms of Xenia, Ohio.
