He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles M. Nuckols and Martha Jane Lemaster Nuckols; his wife Betty Ellen Gearhart Nuckols; and his siblings, James Nuckols, Sarah Polly and Dora Jean McGuire.

He is survived by: his sons, Jack Randall Nuckols (Sarah Etta) and Gary Dean Nuckols (Debbie Hensley); his grandchildren, Ian Jackson Nuckols, Saretta Anne Jackson (Brian) and Mari-Elizabeth Nuckols; his great grandchildren, Anna Sarah Jackson and Elysa Brianne Jackson; and his friend Pete Boggs. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
