He is survived by: his wife Shelia Pettis; his siblings, Tommy Gillespie and Linda Gillespie of California; and his children, Jerry Gillespie of Toledo, Richard Gillespie of Lima, Ohio, Ezekiel Ford, I of Sandusky, William Pettis of Sandusky and Emily Pettis of Cincinnati, Ohio.
