He was predeceased by: his parents, Urban Koethe and Ethel Koethe. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his daughters, Leslie Bergen (Michael) of Columbus, Lisa Harrison (Michael) of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Joanna Bambeck (Michael) of Powell; his stepdaughter Michelle Mitchell (Glenn) of Olmsted Falls; his sons, Paul Koethe (Patricia) of Westlake and Jon Koethe (Lori) of Huron; his stepsons, Steven Rauske (Warren Page) of Vancouver and Michael Rauske (Paul Weinstein) of Des Moines, Iowa; and his brother Edwin Koethe (Carol) of Lorain. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
