He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Altenburger and Matilda Altenburger (Schmitt); his siblings, Elmer "Pete" Schmitt (Dorothy), Harold "Tack" Altenburger (Evelyn), Hubert "Hups" Altenburger (Dorothy), Jerome "Whitey" Altenburger (Velma), Wilbur "Bill" Altenburger (Sally), Dolores "Dolly" Friemoth (Richard) and Louise "Sis" Alt (Basil); and his brother-in-law William "Wid" Stechschulte.
He is survived by: his close friend Bettie J. Koester; his children, Jeffrey Altenburger (Linda) of Ottoville, Scott Altenburger (Kay) of Troy, Terri Sue Metzger (Steven) of Ottoville and Lisa Vorst (Mark) of Ottoville; his grandchildren, Todd Altenburger (Julie), Ross Altenburger (Kristen), Matthew Altenburger (Jena), Kristen Altenburger, Lauren Altenburger, Jamie Saum (Scott), Lindsey Newton (Bryce), Michelle Leach (Michael), Shannon Cusumano (Jhered) and Josh Vorst (Amy); and his siblings, Donald "Tiner" Altenburger (Betty) of Arkansas and Irene Stechschulte of Texas. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Putnam County Homecare and Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
