She was predeceased by: her parents, Mabel LaBounty and Raymond F. LaBounty; her husband Eugene W. Nelms; and her siblings, Mary Lou Rettenberger and Raymond LaBounty.
She is survived by: her children, Joyce, Christine Nelms and David; her grandchildren, Mitchel George (Erin), Jason George (Alison) and Zoe Cross-Nelms; her great grandchildren, Kaity George, Loren George and Timothy George; her stepgreat-granddaughter Hannah Jaegle; her sister-in-law Carol LaBounty; and also Kenneth M. George. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions in JoAnn's name can be made to any of her favorite charities, Toledo Humane Society (due to her love of animals), Cherry Street Mission, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
