She was predeceased by: her husband Phillip Gutheil; and her parents, Walter Knall and Margaret Knall. She is survived by: her children, David Gutheil (Julie), Jill Malone (Greg), Amy Schultz and Joe Matsumoto (Yoko); her grandchildren, Claire, Adam, Joshua, Elizabeth, Ella, Adeline and Isabelle; her brother Robert Knall (Bonnie); her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Kilpatrick (late Bob) and Kathy George (Jerry); and her mother-in-law Charlotte Gutheil.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests all memorial contributions in Virginia's honor be sent to Parkside Church, 7100 Pettibone Road, Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023 and to The Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org.
