He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Newsome and Thelma Newsome; and his siblings, Bobby, Bill and Lettie.

He is survived by: his wife Tammie Newsom; his children, Tommy, Erica (Jamie) and Marla (George); his grandchildren, Lucas, Addison, Madison, Emmett, Kyle and Austin; his sisters, Debbie, Yvonne and Mary; and his close friend Ron Freeman.
