He was predeceased by: his parents, William Vanderheid and Lillian Vanderheid Schulte; and his siblings, Anne Vanderheid and Mark Vanderheid. He is survived by: his wife Vera Long; his children, Christine J. Vanderheid (Chris Nye), William M. Vanderheid, Kay Long and Kevin Long; his grandchildren, Tristan Long-Richards, Alexandra Vanderheid-Nye, Madeline Vanderheid-Nye, Avalon Long-Richards and Tewodros Stricevic; and his sister Nancy Vanderheid-Metzger (Gary). He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Bill, can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
