She was predeceased by: her father Russell Simmons; her spouse Thomas R. Joseph; and her sister Billie Jo Herran. She is survived by: her daughters, Leslie Fleming of Marietta and Mary Wryst (John) of Athens; her granddaughter Megan Fleming of Washington, DC; and her sister Jean Clark of Moundsville, WV. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
