He was predeceased by: his parents, Adelbert Brandes and Leona Brandes; and his siblings, John, Mark and Christine.
He is survived by: his wife Eloise Jean Hinze; his children, Laurel, Marcia (Pete) and Gregory (Dee); his grandsons, Joshua and Sam; and his sister-in-law Tina. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
