He was predeceased by: his parents, William Birmelin and Eva Birmelin (Deems); his son Craig Birmelin; and his siblings, Bill Birmelin and Maizie Rimmele.
He is survived by: his wife Merry Birmelin (Kreiner); his sons, Brad Birmelin and Bryan Birmelin (LaRonda); his stepchildren, Kelly Crowley (William) and Ginger Pelger (Matthew); his grandchildren, Brandon Birmelin (Brianna Beckett), Breon Birmelin, Seth Grant, Caleb Grant, Thomas Crowley, Taryn Crowley, Tatum Crowley, Nicklaus Pelger and Daly Pelger; his great grandchildren, Kaizer, Symere and Baby Boy Birmelin; his nephews, William "Billy" Birmelin and Lewis Birmelin; and the mother of his children Nancy Riess.
