He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joyce Rimpler Kappner; his children, Dean Kappner, Sandy Geraci (Jeff) and Shawn Kappner (Johanna); his grandchildren, Adam Sayer (Lindsey), Kaitlin Gevedon (late Donnie), Julia Geraci, Sam Geraci, Jessica Geraci, Louis Kappner (Nicole) and Alaina McLaughlin (Daniel); his great grandchildren, Lily, Gehrig, Landry and Memphis; and his sister Nancy VonBargen. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
