He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bennett and Ruth Bennett; his former wife Suellen Bennett; and his brother Francis Bennett. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Bennett Jr. and Jerry Bennett; his stepsons, Brian Chapman (Laura), Brad Chapman and Brent Chapman; his fiancée Patricia Hudson; and his siblings, Bob Bennett (Roxann), Bonnie Figgins (Jon), Steve Bennett (Mary), Theresa Spencer (Tom), Don Bennett (Betty), Mary Dittoe (Bill), George Bennett (Betty), Anthony Bennett (Rita) and Joseph Bennett. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
