He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, José Gerena and Maria Gonzalez; his wife Blanca Gerena; and his children, Gladys Navarro (Regino), Blanca I. Bonilla (Nehemias), Doranilda Gonzalez (José) and José Luis Gerena. He was also cherished by 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
