He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Leonhard (Bliss) and Edward Leonhard; his wife Phyllis Leonhard; his son Richard M. Leonhard, II; his grandson Alex Leonhard; and his siblings, Doris Cooper, Louise Lahti, Patricia Meszaros, Jane Barnett, Raymond Leonhard and Edward Leonhard.
He is survived by: his children, Gregory B. Leonhard (Rose) of Kinsman, Jeffrey S. "Huff" Leonhard (Kelly) of Loogootee and Lisa D. Masto (Matthew); his grandchildren, Trina, Lisa, Erika, Tiffany, Stephen, Kylie, Dominic and Jacob; and his great grandchildren, Albie, Willow, Jonas and Henry.
