He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Smith and Dianne Smith (Hudson). He is survived by: his wife Lometa Smith (Pope); his son Franklin "Frankie" Smith; his siblings, Andy Shirey (Elaine) and Cindy Sams (David); his stepmother Diane Smith; his mother-in-law Phyllis Pope; his siblings-in-law, Charlie Pope (Michelle) and Shonnia Pope; and his niece Kendra Pope. He is also survived by family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a fund for David's son, Frankie, at Vinton County Bank.
