With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Duane Gates (Jefferson, Ohio), born in Ashtabula, Ohio, who passed away on December 26, 2018 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William R. Gates and Cleo Gates (Gottmeir); his wife Helen; his son Greg Gates; his granddaughter Natasha Urbank; and his brothers, Lyle and Russell Gates.
He is survived by: his children, Gloria Santee (Ray) of Virginia Beach, VA, Kim Gates of Ashtabula, Nancie Welton (Daniel) of Tucson, AZ, Douglas Urbank (Deborah) of Cortland and Herman Urbank (Nina) of Dublin; his siblings, Audrey Fox of Geneva and Ken Gates (Ann) of Cincinnati; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gates of Austinburg, Rose Beardow of Saybrook Twp, Esther Armstrong of Ashtabula and Jean Herman; and his cousins, Dick Fischer and Kay Lillie. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
