He was predeceased by: his siblings, Catherine Johnson (Ivan) and Robert Shaffer (Marlyn). He is survived by: his spouse Marilyn Reid; his children, David (Vivien) of Harrod and Jo McConnell (Bruce) of Spencerville; his grandchildren, Jennifer Shaffer, Matthew Shaffer (Bethany) of Wapakoneta, Douglas Shaffer (Ann Marie) of Canal Winchester, Nathan McConnell (Jenny) of Canal Fulton, Rachel Koester (Jon) of Lima, Tyler McConnell and Claire McConnell; and his great grandchildren, Kyle Newland, Zane Newland, Autumn, Lauren, Elijah, Isaiah Shaffer, Sofia McConnell and Sadie McConnell.
