He was predeceased by: his parents, Louie Stephens and Myrtle Stephens (Wyatt). He is survived by: his children, Tamera Kennedy (Chad), Tracy Stephens, Teresa Watterman (Arthur) and Hobert Payne Jr. (Susan); his grandchildren, Luke Kennedy, Logan Kennedy, Matthew Stephens (Elizabeth), Barbara Stephens, Corey Payne (Rachael), Melissa Roberts, Chelsea Payne, Alexis Payne and Zachary Payne; his siblings, Jearlean Carmack, Dixie Pruitt, Virginia Thorton, Cynthia Gunter, Brenda McNeal (Larry), Donald Stephens (Kathy) and Billie Joe Stephens (Pat); and his wife Betty Stephens. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
