He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Powell and Leona Powell (Smithson); his daughter Debra Drawdy; and his siblings, Mary Jones and John Powell.

He is survived by: his children, Carla Morgan, Dawna Davis, Carolyn Powell and Shana Powell; and his sisters, Elizabeth Rhoads and Ruth Pauley. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
