He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond C. Smith and Irene Smith (George); his siblings, Donald, Marvin, Kenny Smith and Marlene Workman; and his sisters-in-law, Rosie Smith and Marianne Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce C. Brossia of Genoa; his children, Jodi Poggemeyer (John) of Spartanburg, SC and Scott Smith (Michelle) of Curtice, OH; his grandchildren, Joel Poggemeyer (Kerri), Jay Poggemeyer, Jeremy Poggemeyer, Johni Poggemeyer, Erica Smith and Ethan Smith; his great grandchild Heath Poggemeyer; his siblings, Raymond "Butch" Smith, Terry Smith (Mona), Pam Smith and Linda Wildman (Tom); and his sister-in-law Lucille Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
