She was predeceased by: her parents, Evert Suydam and Ellen Suydam (Mainey); her husband Robert "Bob" Samsen; and her granddaughter Katie Samsen. She is survived by: her children, Gerald R. Samsen (Karen), Patricia E. Skwarcan (Chet), Douglas S. Samsen (Sondra) and Martha E. Thornberry; her grandchildren, Carrie Samsen, Megan Herald (Justin), Drew Samsen, Amy Worland (Brad), Aaron Skwarcan (Rachael), Brian Samsen, Brett Samsen (Clara), Brad Samsen, Ellen Thornberry, Clara Thornberry and Olivia Thornberry; and her brother Evert "Pete" Suydam (Shirley).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Road, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
