He was predeceased by: his parents, Denzil Harlan and June Patricia Heckert (Heeter); and his brothers, Ronald "Sonny" and Darrell Heckert. He is survived by: his sons, David Heckert II (Carla), Denzil Heckert, Ronald Heckert and Shaun Hullet; his siblings, Jacki Harris, Herbert Heckert and Robert Heckert; his grandchildren, Shane Heckert, Whitnie Lucero, Jamie West and Toby West; and his great grandchild Ember Benson.
