He was predeceased by: his wife Anna Mae Hatfield; his parents, Valentine Hatfield and Edith Hatfield (Watters); his siblings, Ted, Valentine Jr., Troy, Tom, Bryant, Billy Hatfield and Mildred Lowrey; his parents-in-law, Van and Rebecca Erwin; and his siblings-in-law, Charles, James Robie, Bernard Erwin and Audra Calton.

He is survived by: his children, Rick Hatfield (Angi) and Vanessa Troutman (Mike); his grandchildren, Wade and Abigail Troutman; his siblings, Jimmy Ray Hatfield (Hazel), Rodney Hatfield and Sibby Cisco; and his siblings-in-law, Brady (Janice), Van Jr. (Earlene), Bruce Erwin (Patricia), Herschel Erwin (Lucille), Doug Erwin (Karen), Toni Cozmyk (Michael), Donna Simpkins (Ira) and Sheila Erwin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
