We are sad to announce that on May 25, 2023, at the age of 80, William J. Verkest Sr. of Fostoria, Ohio, born in Detroit, Michigan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Verkest and Bernice Verkest (Bisby); his former wife Susan Verkest (Pate); his son William Verkest II; and his siblings, Richard Verkest, Marlene Gasiewski, Beverly DeGrande and Maryanne Verkest.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy J. Verkest; his children, Robin Verkest, Jody Verkest (Leanne) and Wendy Church (John); his siblings, Robert Verkest, Tom Verkest, Suzanne Lenz and Karen Verkest; and his stepchildren, Kevin Fisher (Lisa) and Michelle Fisher. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of William to the American Legion, Post # 85 in Newark.
