He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Noah Lavern and Zella Kirkendall (Little); his wife Wanda Lee Cortson; his siblings, Gleadus "Jim" Kirkendall and Marguerite "Marge" McClintock; and his grandchildren, Nick Massie and Alicia Kirkendall Black.
He is survived by: his children, Rev. Jack Lamar Kirkendall (Miriam) of Greeneville, Andrew Phillip Kirkendall (Kay) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Shirley Ann Yerkes of Fostoria and Judy Kay Fowler (Gerald) of Sparta, Georgia. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and numerous great, and great-great grandchildren.
