He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth G. Shontz and Helen "Annie" Shontz (Sendelbach). He is survived by: his wife Carol Merritt; his children, Glenda Bowman (Matt McKee), Allen Shontz (Lori) and Janell Hoodlebrink (Doug); his grandchildren, Brian, Nate, Nicole, Alicia, Joey, Alex and Zach; his great grandchildren, Lacey, Addilyn, Drew, Amaya, Ava, Carly, Christian and Brady; and his brother John M. Shontz. He is also survived by the grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his pet cat.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, Fostoria Fire Department or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
