He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shearer and Annie Hays Shearer; his wife Eunice Shearer; and his sisters, Olive Boyles and Eva Widowfield.

He is survived by: his children, Trucking and Becky Shearer of East Palestine; his grandson Wes (Michelle); his great grandchild John Wesley Shearer IV; his niece Shari Matthews; and his pets, LooLoo and Draino.
